Supporting Our Veterans

American Flag Sandy Spring Bank Blog about Fisher House

At Sandy Spring Bank we strive to be an advocate for our clients and communities. We look for meaningful ways to invest in our communities and the people who make this such a special place to live, work and raise a family. This region is home to a large number of veterans, so we seek opportunities to recognize and assist these honorable individuals and their families. That’s why our employees decided to support the Fisher House through our Casual for a Cause program.

This monthly, employee-led initiative gives everyone at the bank the opportunity to dress casual in exchange for a monetary donation to a local nonprofit. Since the program launched, our employees have collectively donated more than $45,000 to area nonprofits.

Sandy Spring Bank Employees Participating in Casual for a Cause to support Fisher House

In honor of Veterans Day and our Season of Sharing, our employees elected for proceeds from this month’s Casual for a Cause to go to the Fisher House. This special nonprofit builds and furnishes homes where veterans and their families can stay, free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers in this region and around the world. The funds we raise will go to support the  Fisher House located near the Walter Reed Medical Center.

Stay tuned to learn other ways we will support our local veterans and family members during our #SSB150 Season of Sharing, including through our Toys for Tots efforts.
