Season of Sharing: Make It Your Own

Brian Saylor, Integrated Sales Development Leader

Sandy Spring Bank is more than just a bank.  For nearly 150 years we have been serving our clients, employees, communities and shareholders across the region.  We strive to always make each interaction a remarkable experience by living out our core principles.  Making it your own – it is a principle that I’m committed to at work and at home, especially during the Season of Sharing.  It’s about delivering what a client needs, without exception!  It’s about drawing on the diversity, expertise and unique talents of our employees in order to make whatever we do our own.  And that commitment is truly front and center during our Season of Sharing.

Season of Sharing is a beloved tradition at Sandy Spring Bank where employees, clients and community partners come together to help our neighbors in need.  For the past five years, I have worked with my co-captains, Katie Cave from Finance and Becca Kruse from Card Systems & Fraud Prevention, to lead the bank’s Toys for Tots efforts.  As one of the top 10 Toys for Tots donors in Maryland, we hold a variety of fundraisers to help us provide happiness and hope to economically-disadvantaged children during the holiday season.  I am always impressed and inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity that our employees put toward raising funds and collecting toys for this important cause.

For the past 10 years, employees across the bank organize and take part in a silent and live auction, cookie bake-off and toy drive.  For the auction, bank employees donate over 100 items for their colleagues to bid on, creating a fun and festive way to give back.  At our headquarters building in Olney, Maryland, employees host a cookie bake-off fundraiser with all proceeds going toward the purchase of new toys.  Additionally, we place toy collection boxes in our branches and invite our clients to participate.

I encourage you to go above and beyond the call of duty for someone in need and really make it your own during this holiday season.  My colleagues and I challenge each other every day to deliver exceptional value and solutions – and that’s what makes Sandy Spring Bank so special.

Visit us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to learn more about how we’re helping our communities during this Season of Sharing.  Share or retweet any of our posts with the Season of Sharing stamp, and we’ll donate 10 meals to our local food bank partners.
