Season of Sharing: Always Take the Extra Step

June Perugini, Senior Human Resources Client Service Representative

At Sandy Spring Bank we make it a priority to enrich the lives of our clients, employees and shareholders in the communities we serve.  We stand behind our community as a trusted financial advocate and philanthropic partner. We are motivated by our guiding principles, which drive how we do business and serve our communities. One of those principles includes to Always Take the Extra Step, and it is something that we strive for all year round. It is especially apparent during the Season of Sharing—when we come together to make a difference during the holiday season.

I am one of the more than 20 employees from across the bank that help coordinate volunteer activities for our more than 700 colleagues across Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. We work to create volunteer opportunities that are accessible to our employees and serve an immediate need in our communities.

For the past three years, I have worked with my co-captain in our finance department, Crissies Lee,  to lead an employee event to benefit Our Daily Bread.  Employees across the bank, specifically from our Human ResourcesTrust and Finance teams, unite forces to make sandwiches for economically disadvantaged Baltimore residents.  This year, nearly 40 employees came together to assemble, pack and drop off roughly 1,000 sandwiches for Our Daily Bread to distribute over the weekend.

You too can take the extra step and help Sandy Spring Bank make a difference in the community by connecting with us on Facebook and Twitter.  Share or retweet our Season of Sharing posts, and we’ll donate 10 meals to our local food bank partners.
