For more than five years, Sandy Spring Bank has proudly supported the Maryland Food Bank, and this year is no exception. The bank recently presented to the Food Bank a $10,000 donation, which will provide 30,000 meals to our neighbors in need this holiday season.

The Maryland Food Bank supplies food to more than 1,250 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and faith-based organizations that serve food-insecure Marylanders. Through these partnerships, the Food Bank distributed more than 37 million meals last year.

The President and CEO of the Maryland Food Bank, Carmen Del Guercio, and Amy Chase, Director of Corporate Relations, were on site to accept the special Season of Sharing donation.

According to Del Guercio, “The Maryland Food Bank has been serving this region for nearly 40 years, so it is meaningful to partner with another organization that has deep local roots and a personal commitment to improving our communities. Sandy Spring Bank’s donation will help us make a meaningful impact in fighting hunger and delivering hope to some of the people who need it the most.”

Employees from the bank will visit the Maryland Food Bank again later this month and volunteer in the warehouse, helping to pack and sort food as part of the #SSB150 Season of Sharing.
