Homeownership Month Spotlight: Greater Washington Urban League

In recognition of Homeownership Month, members of our Mortgage Division have been visiting some of our non-profit partners across our footprint to show Sandy Spring Bank’s appreciation for their efforts in our communities. This week, Alexis Vining, Vice President and Mortgage Banker, presented a donation on behalf of our Mortgage team to the Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL).

This non-profit service organization has guided individuals on the road to self-sufficiency for more than 75 years. GWUL helps advance their mission by managing and administering programs in education, employment and training; housing and community development; health promotion; financial literacy; and emergency assistance. We have been pleased to partner with them over the years on several special homeownership initiatives, including a First-Time Homebuyer Class that helps educate those who are interested in purchasing a home.

“Greater Washington Urban League is a valuable support network for more than 65,000 residents across Washington, DC, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County, MD,” said Vining. “With a focus on empowering minority communities, they provide extremely valuable services that are helping individuals and families achieve homeownership and financial stability. In celebration of Homeownership Month, we’re pleased to recognize their tremendous contributions and partnership.”
