  • Question

    What makes a great leader?

    Answer

A great leader to me is one who cares about their team, who listens to their team, who has unwavering principles, and who puts their values and company mission before their personal gain.

  • Question

Why did you choose Sandy Spring Bank?

    Answer

This question is kind of fun! I can’t say that I chose Sandy Spring Bank. I think that I’ve grown up at Sandy Spring Bank. I have been at Sandy Spring Bank for 42 years starting here when I was in the 11th grade so I’ve kind of moved around from department to department, and I’ve grown up. I’ve taken advantage of different on the job training to get where I am now. I started as a part-time clerk typist, and now, I am a senior trust officer. I’ve grown up here so I think Sandy Spring chose me.

  • Question

What is something you wish you would have known early in your career?

    Answer

Probably what I wanted to do because I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I just wanted to type. I loved to type, and I was taking office practice at Sherwood High School. I was typing. I was doing shorthand. I was doing all those things. And I wasn’t really focused on what I wanted. So If I could have really focused and sat down… But I always liked to help people, and in the position I am in now, I’m helping people.

  • Question

How do you give back to your community?

    Answer

Well, that’s a busy subject! I am in several organizations that educate people on Black history, community issues, and local government issues. I help at a food pantry. I help at church for any outreach needs. Most people don’t know this, but I help a lot of people with funeral planning. When they need it most, they need help guiding through the process, and I do a lot of that. I’m also the most recent past president of MedStar Montgomery’s Women’s Board where we support the hospital and give back to the community.

  • Question

What impact do you hope to have on others?

    Answer

That if they work hard and strive, they can overcome almost anything. And that if you give back to others, it’ll come back to you if you’re not expecting other things. It’ll come back to you.
