Security Enhancements to Online and Mobile Banking
Sandy Spring Bank is committed to safeguarding your financial information. We’ve added security enhancements to allow for an extra level of security on your online and mobile banking accounts.
Some of these enhancements include:
- Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-factor authentication provides an extra layer of protection to your account. With this two-step process, you may receive a text or email with a one-time PIN. You’ll enter the one-time PIN in order to access your account.

- Enhanced Passcodes
We are requiring enhanced criteria for all passcodes. You will now need to create a passcode that has a minimum of 8 characters, 1 letter, 1 number, and 1 special character. This cannot be the same as your User ID and it is case sensitive. You will not be able to save your new passcode until it meets these requirements.

- Automatic Reminder to Change your Passcode
We will send you reminders yearly when it’s time to change your passcode. By changing your passcode periodically, you’ll be doing an important, extra step to increase your online security. We recommend creating new passcodes each time you change your passcode and avoid using previous passcodes.
- Time-Out Period
We’ve extended the time out period to 15 minutes of inactivity on your online account. Online banking and mobile banking users will be logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity in their account. To avoid being logged out of your account, complete online activity every 15 minutes.
