We believe strongly in educating children and young adults about
the importance of saving and managing money. Our Young
Savers program is designed to teach children how to save
money in a fun and engaging way. The program makes use of banking
materials that kids can relate to, such as a fun Club Passbook with
saving tips, cool plastic coin wrappers, deposit slips, and a
chance to win exciting club prizes. Learn more.
Sandy Spring also has a national award winning In-School
Banking program. This grass roots effort has taken
financial literacy concepts right into the classroom.
Each week, a Sandy Spring Bank representative visits
participating elementary schools and works with children who are
trained to be "bank tellers" for the school. They organize a school
branch where the tellers are authorized to perform deposit
transactions. After all the deposits have been collected, the
tellers learn how to settle accounts at the school's bank. Learn more.
