Daniel J. Schrider, President and CEO of Sandy Spring Bank, told a Washington Business Journal forum Tuesday night that the Washington, D.C., region offers enough economic advantages to win Amazon’s second headquarters, HQ2.

OLNEY, Md., July 11, 2018 – Daniel J. Schrider, President and CEO of Sandy Spring Bank, told a Washington Business Journal forum Tuesday night that the Washington, D.C., region offers enough economic advantages to win Amazon’s second headquarters, HQ2.

“I am confident that we are ready to serve their needs better than any other market the company could choose,” he said.  “We have the talent, the infrastructure and the economic base to help make them even more successful than they are today.”

The Washington Business Journal facilitated the forum to examine Amazon’s effect on its founding location, Seattle, Wash., and to explore the potential impact of having the company’s HQ2 in Greater Washington. Sandy Spring Bank was a title sponsor of the event.

“Sandy Spring Bank sees a bright future for this market,” Schrider told the audience of area business leaders and owners. “As the largest locally headquartered community bank in the Greater Washington region, we are proud to serve more than 100,000 individuals and families and 20,000 businesses that are creating jobs and fueling the local economy. Our commitment to serving and investing in our communities is stronger than ever.”
