Financial Literacy: Our Holistic View

At Sandy Spring Bank, we believe financial literacy is beneficial for all stages of life. From our in-school banking program in local elementary schools, to our Sandy Spring Financial Scholars Program and seminars for area professionals and seniors, we continue to do our part to improve the financial well-being of our community members.

Our employees were busy this week educating various groups of people on vital financial literacy topics.  These activities included:

First time home buyer’s seminar:  In partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League, we educated first time home buyers on affordable and flexible borrowing options.  Together, we strive to increase the economic and political empowerment of minorities across the region.

Financial Roundtable:  Frederic G. Burke, Senior Vice President, Sandy Spring Trust, Wealth Management Division convened a roundtable discussion with area professionals and community leaders on economic investment observations, and market insights.

Sandy Spring Financial Scholars Program at Old Mill High School:  We visited one of our new partners to lead an engaging lesson on financial tips for students’ future.  We value our partnership with EverFi, the area school districts, and teachers to prepare the next generation of financially responsible leaders.

Financial education is a lifelong endeavor and we continue to do our part in educating our community.  Check us out on FacebookTwitter and LinkedIn to see how we support financial literacy education, not just in April, but all year-long.
